چکیده

Area estimation is widely used in forestry applications and can greatly affect how forest land is managed. This study examined whether image attributes and interpreters affected area estimation and management activities used in forestry practices. Seven interpreters, chosen for this study, delineated stands on two different images of the same area. Results from these interpretations were then entered into a harvest scheduling model to see how the differences affected the overall timber value predicted by the harvest schedule. Image attributes played a role; however, differences in interpretation were the primary cause of inconsistency in harvest values. The objective function values (OFV) for individual interpreters ranged from $1.5 to $2.3 million for Positive Systems imagery and $1.4 to $1.9 million for scanned imagery. Average OFV between imagery and interpreters ranged from $1.7 to $1.8 million.

Incorporating average and maximum area restrictions in harvest scheduling models

A major goal in natural resource management has long been balancing the multiple uses of forest lands. Timber harvesting remains an important component of natural resource utilization, but must be approached in such a way that recreational use, ecosystem dynamics, species survivability, and other considerations are not sacrificed. One way in which production impacts are mitigated in forest mana...

Estimation of PC-MRI Pressure Map Using Integral Form of Governing Equations and Spline Segments

In this paper, the boundary-based estimation of pressure distribution in the cardiovascular system is investigated using two dimensional flow images. The conventional methods of non-invasive estimation of pressure distribution in the cardiovascular flow domain use the differential form of governing equations. This study evaluates the advantages of using the integral form of the equations in the...

Study of Diversity and Estimation of Leaf Area in Different Mint Ecotypes Using Artificial Intelligence and Regression Models under Salinity Stress Conditions

Leaf area is a key indicator for the growth and production of plant products and also determines the efficiency of light consumption. Therefore, the study of diversity and also the estimation of leaf area in different mint ecotypes is particular importance. One of the common methods for estimating leaf area is regression analysis, the leaf area as independent variable, and leaf length and ...

Quick Estimation of Apple (Red Delicious and Golden Delicious) Leaf Area and Chlorophyll Content

ABSTRACT- The evaluation of leaf area and leaf nutritional value is important for crop growth modeling and estimations of its performance. The purpose of this study was to use image processing techniques to develop an economical method to ease the assessment of nutrient status and leaf area (LA) of plants and to compare the outcomes of this method with linear models. Leaf area and leaf chloroph...
